Hi,

I’m Sam and I’m a Photographer specialising in Headshots for Performers as well as Luxury and Corporate Events

I started my career 25 years ago as a professional dancer and, in more recent years I’ve been a working actor on stage and screen. It brings me so much joy to combine my knowledge of the entertainment world with my passion for photography, working with clients to capture the real you and the moments that really matter.

Headshots

Having been on the other side of the camera myself, I completely understand what you’re looking for in your headshots and the anxiety you may have about having your photo taken. So, we’ll spend some time at the beginning of the shoot exploring the look you’re after, and I will talk you through the whole experience to ensure we capture the best images possible.

Events

With so much experience performing and entertaining clients on the stage of prestigious events, I’m very familiar with the type of energy that that creates. My mission as a photographer is to capture that energy through the lens so that it contagiously translates through the viewer’s eye. Moments matter, but the right moments last forever.

  • Professionalism: A professional headshot showcases your commitment to your craft and demonstrates that you take your acting career seriously. It communicates that you are willing to invest in yourself and present yourself in the best possible light. Casting professionals are more likely to take you seriously and consider you for roles if they see a professional headshot.
  • Casting Process: Casting directors use headshots to identify actors suitable for specific roles. Your headshot should convey your unique qualities and help casting professionals envision you in various characters. A professional headshot can capture your personality, range, and potential, giving casting directors a clear sense of what you can bring to a role.
  • Marketing Tool: Headshots are not just for auditions but also serve as a marketing tool. Actors often need to submit their headshots for casting calls, agency representation, and online profiles on casting websites. A professional headshot that stands out from the crowd can increase your chances of being noticed and considered for opportunities.

How do I prepare for my Headshot Session?

  • Understand Your Casting Type: Take some time to reflect on the types of roles you are most interested in and the characters you believe you can convincingly portray. Understanding your casting type will help you tailor your headshots to highlight your strengths and appeal to casting directors for those specific roles.
  • Plan Your Wardrobe: Select clothing options that reflect your casting type and the characters you want to portray. Consider the colours, styles, and textures that suit you best. Avoid busy patterns or clothes that distract attention from your face. Bring a good variety of outfits to the session, including both casual and more formal options.
  • Grooming and Hair: Always take good care of yourself but especially a few days before the session. Get a haircut or trim if needed and ensure that your hair is styled in a way that reflects your desired look. For men, consider whether you want to have facial hair or a clean-shaven appearance. Women should plan their makeup and hairstyle to achieve a natural look.
  • Rest and Hydration: Prioritize getting a good night’s sleep before your session to look fresh and well-rested. Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to the session to keep your skin hydrated and healthy. Well-rested and hydrated skin will appear more vibrant in the photographs.
  • Communication with the Photographer: Before the session, communicate with the photographer about your goals, casting type, and any specific ideas you have in mind. Share reference images if you have a particular style or mood you want to achieve. Discussing these details with the photographer will ensure that you are both on the same page and working towards a common vision.
